Riparte follows in the footsteps of such successful, "alternative" journeys into the art market as the Gramercy Park Hotel Art Fair in New York. The organizers decided to create a similar event in Romein a bid to accelerate the rapport between the gallery and the collector, as well as to strengthen ties between different galleries from around the world. The word was out. Dealers from the many regions of Italy responded to the news of my initial project with generous enthusiasm, resulting in a many-faceted event which creates a detailed map of Italian contemporary art. However, from the outset, the idea was to encourage the participation of foreign galleries in order to propose a truly international sphere. This reflects the growing internationalsm of the Italian, and particularly the Roman, art world.
It is from our basic belief in the new ease of cross-cultural art that we came up with the winning concept of an event which demonstrates to the Italian public the idea of the portable exhibition.
